PARISH NOTICES
PLEASE pray for the repose of the soul of Anna Dirkin who died recently. May she rest in peace. The Requiem Mass for Anna will be on Tuesday 9th March at 12 noon.
SUNDAY EVENING LENTEN LITURGY this Sunday 7th March will take place at St Luke’s Church,
Norfolk Road, at 6.00pm - for the International Taizé Service. On 14th & 28th March at St Joseph’s and 21st March at St Edmund Campion Church – all at 6.00pm.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS – Wednesdays at 7.30pm at St Elizabeth’s and Thursdays at 7.30pm at
St Joseph’s (not during Novena). At 9.30am on Good Friday for children.
UCM: The next meeting of the UCM will be on Tuesday 9th March at 7.45pm in the Bar Area. There will be a chance to buy chocolates from Andrea Frate from Chocoholics. The positions of Treasurer and Secretary for the coming year have still to be filled.
ANNUAL NOVENA TO ST JOSEPH: The Novena Masses will be celebrated at 7.30pm each evening at
St Joseph’s from Wednesday 10th March to Thursday 18th March (except Saturday at 6.30pm and Sunday at 10.45am). All welcome. There will be no 10.00am Mass on the Novena days, except for Saturday 13th.
THE FEAST OF ST JOSEPH is on Friday 19th March. Mass will be at 10.00am.
LENTEN PROJECT: TALENTS MAKE TREASURES: There is a display on the Youth notice board in the parish centre corridor. Please have a look before you go home today. Use this as a message board to advertise any events you would like people to support, or simply to update people on your progress so far. Next Sunday 14th March Françoise will be selling pancakes in the Hall after the 10.45am Mass. Jazz evening will take place on Friday March 26th in
St Joseph's Parish Hall. Would anyone donate a prize for the raffle or something for auction (some Maths tuition, a free week in your French holiday house, perhaps?…. be creative!) Please contact Pat on 523067.
LENT RETREAT: Saturday, 27th March from 10.30am to 3.00pm. Open to all parishioners. If interested, please return slip at the end of this newsletter urgently.
SPECIAL MINISTERS OF THE EUCHARIST:
The rota for the Easter Triduum is now being prepared. There is a list in the Sacristy - would ministers (including those from St Elizabeth’s) who can serve, please add their name next to the appropriate service on the list this weekend or email the parish office as soon as possible.
CONFIRMATION 2010: The Sacrament of Confirmation will take place on Friday 1st October at 7.00pm at
St Joseph’s Church. If you are currently in Year 8 or above and would like to join in this year's Confirmation programme, please complete an application form (at both ends of the Church) and return to the Presbytery letterbox in an envelope marked 'Confirmation', as soon as possible. The programme will start after Easter. CONFIRMATION CATECHISTS: We need catechists to help with the Confirmation programme. If you are able to help in any way, please contact Fr Tom.
OFFERTORY COLLECTION last weekend was £1,472.34. Second collection for CAFOD Lent Fast Day was £918.54. Thank you. Second collection this weekend is for the Lenten Project. Please collect your offertory envelopes from the Repository area this weekend.
HAITI EARTHQUAKE APPEAL: The amount raised was £2,391.20 – a letter of thanks is on notice board.
THE REPOSITORY has Easter cards, books for Stations of the Cross and Lent devotions.
ST MARY’S SCHOOL: ‘Mum’s Night Off’. All welcome on Thursday 11th March 7.00pm – 10.30pm. Beauty treatments, shopping and chocolate cake. Entry £3.50 to include a glass of wine. PASTORAL AREA NOTICES
AN EVENING WITH CAFOD: To thank all parishioners in the Pastoral Area for their support throughout the years, Maurice McPartlan, Head of International Programmes -
Africa, will be speaking at St Edmund Campion parish hall on Friday 19th March at 7.30pm. Everybody is welcome to come along and hear about CAFOD's work "on the ground". Refreshments will be provided.
