PARISH NOTICES

PLEASE pray for the repose of the souls of Richard Simpson and Bridget Coffey who died recently. May they rest in peace.  Richard’s funeral will take place on Tuesday 14th September at 12 noon at St Elizabeth’s Church, Cookham.

CONGRATULATIONS to Claudine Armolea and Luke Wicks who were married last weekend.

CONGRATULATIONS to Cecilia and Don Leanage who celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary this weekend.

COFFEE/TEA after 10.45am Mass resumes this Sunday after the summer break.  All parishioners – new and old - are very welcome!

UCM: The next meeting will be a Skittles Evening at The Greyhound pub in Eton Wick on Tuesday 7th September. Will all those going please meet in St Joseph’s car park no later than 7.00pm and lifts will be allocated.  Any queries please phone Joan Boland on 01628 637863.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR will take place on Saturday 13th November. There will be a discussion/planning meeting on Wednesday 8th September at 7.45pm in the Presbytery for anyone interested in helping with this year’s bazaar.  All welcome.

MARY TAYLOR: A Mass celebrating the life of Mary Taylor who died recently will take place on Friday 10th September at 12 noon at St Joseph’s.

PAPAL EVENTS:  A meeting for all participants will take place on Sunday 12th September after 10.45am Mass in the Church.   Pilgrim Packs and all relevant information will be given on the day. MAGNIFICAT: The Handbook for the Papal Visit is being distributed throughout England, Scotland and Wales over the coming weekends. For those attending a Papal Mass or the Hyde Park Vigil, please do make sure you take a copy.  Although there are not copies for everyone, there are enough for one per family or household.  We would like to invite you to make a donation towards the Handbook if you are able.  £2.00 per copy would help to cover the costs.  Please use the Handbook when following the Pope’s visit on television or the internet.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY – we welcome the children back  after the summer holiday next Sunday 12th September during the 10.45am Mass.  Please will Liturgists pick up their rotas and sheets from the filing cabinet. Dear parishioners, we really need your help, both in the sessions to assist the Liturgists with the children and to take the registers.  Registration takes 5 minutes at the start of Mass. Just once or twice a term would make a real difference - could you help us?  Please call Tricia Weeks on 01628 627265 if you can lend a hand.

SVP: Next meeting will take place on Wednesday 15th September at 7.30pm.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2010/2011: The programme will start on Sunday 19th September from 9.30am to 10.30am followed by Family Mass at 10.45am.  Please note - only children in Year 3 will be eligible to be enrolled on the programme.   Application forms now available from the church.

SAFEGUARDING COURSE:  All those working with

children or vulnerable adults in the parish – and Special Ministers of the Eucharist,  are required by the diocese  to attend the appropriate training. Courses will take place at St Edmund Campion Church this month and bookings are now being taken. The Child Protection course will take place on Saturday 18th September from 10.00am to 12.30pm and the Vulnerable Adults Protection Course will take place on Saturday 25th September from 10.00am – 12.30pm. OFFERTORY COLLECTION:  The collection for last week was £1125.36.   Thank you.   There will be a second collection for the Josephite Mission Appeal next weekend.

DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES: Parishioners’ petitions have been delivered safely to Our Lady’s Grotto.  Masses said during the pilgrimage also included St Elizabeth’s Church and St Joseph’s Church. 

PASTORAL AREA NOTICES

GREAT PARK PASTORAL AREA LENTEN PROJECT 2010:  Thanks to your generosity, St Joseph’s/St Elizabeth’s has raised   £9936.88 towards our pastoral area total of £15530.48. The charities supported by the GPPA are - Thames Hospicecare, CAFOD, St Cornelius Drop-in-Centre, South Africa; MIFUMI Scholarship Fund, Uganda; St George’s School, India; and the St Vincent de Paul Society, Sudan.  A breakdown of the amount together with letters of thanks can be found on the noticeboard.

BARN DANCE: The Friends of Mill Hill Missionaries are organizing a Barn Dance to take place in St Joseph’s Parish Hall on Saturday 25th September from 7.00pm. Tickets are £12.50 each and will include a meal.  There will be a Raffle and the Bar will be open. OFFERTORY COLLECTION:  The collection for 15th August was £1056.97 and for last weekend was £1146.77.  The retiring collection for the Pakistan Flood Appeal was £938.88.   Thank you.    If you missed the Pakistan Flood Appeal collection and would like to make a donation, you can do so by putting it in an envelope addressed to the Pakistan Appeal.
