The Parish Pastoral Council is a body made up of the parish priest and 12 elected lay members of the parish and we have had one in its current form since.....
It's objective is to support the parish priest to shape what we do in the parish, to ensure that the voice of parishioners is heard and to encourage parishioners to participate more fully in the life of the parish.
We are fortunate at St Joseph's that we have many committed people who already run a range of spiritual and social groups. Therefore the shaping and encouraging has been fairly gentle in recent years. However, there may be a time when stronger intervention is necessary and the PPC is accountable to the parishioners for representing them.
The PPC meets monthly on the first Thursday of each month and minutes of meetings are posted to the church notice boards. Or please speak to one of us if you have ideas for the parish.
There is a formal process each autumn of nominating and voting for new members, although nominations and volunteers are welcome at any time.
The PPC for 2008/09 was made up as follows:
Monsignor Tom McGrath
Pat Cairney: Chair
Gloria McQueen: Vice Chair
Andy Strowbridge: Secretary
Andrew Adamson
Pam Burby
Pat Dunn
Eddie Piekut
Mary Reville
Bernadette Wilmott
